In 2020, Suomussalmi Tourist Office joined the Sustainable Travel Finland program which is created by Visit Finland. The program is purpose to act as a tool to company’s as they build the region’s tourism more sustainable. The starting point for operations is the needs of companies and customers.

Responsibility and sustainability are the basic values of Suomussalmi Municipality and the Tourist Office. Tourism and the production of experiences in the Suomussalmi area are based on combining history, culture and nature. Locality and local products play an important role in the operations of Suomussalmi Tourist Office. One of the most important things in development work is active cooperation.
